calculation of dBm in Milliwatt for wireless Acess Points WiFI

power of wireless Acess Points WiFi

dBm (sometimes dBmW or Decibel-milliwatts) is an abbreviation for the power ratio in decibels (dB) of the measured power referenced to one milliwatt (mW). It is used in radio, microwave and fiber optic networks as a convenient measure of absolute power because of its capability to express both very large and very small values in a short form. Compare dBW, which is referenced to one watt (1000 mW).

Since it is referenced to the watt, it is an absolute unit, used when measuring absolute power. By comparison, the decibel (dB) is a dimensionless unit, used for quantifying the ratio between two values, such as signal-to-noise ratio.

In audio and telephony, dBm is typically referenced relative to a 600 ohm impedance,[1] while in radio frequency work dBm is typically referenced relative to a 50 ohm impedance.[2]

problem with Sevilana Endesa - extra cost because of missing power limiter

problem with Sevillana Endesa -  extra  cost because of missing power limiter

If you find a “penalizacion p/ausencia de icp” cost on your electricity bill you are probably caught in one of the new tricks from Sevillana Endesa to get more money out of you!

It is pretty useless to call 800 760 333 the service hotline, because it is either busy or they don’t want to listen to you.

The background is that Sevillana Endesa, Iberola or any other Electricity provider in Spain has the right to make you install what they call “ limitador de potencia” or ICP (Power limiter)  which is basically a very slow fuse that disconnects all your houses electricity in case you use more power than your contract allows you.

So you have to call one of the few electricians that have been granted the right by Endesa to connect 4 cables and a anti-tamper seal in 15 minutes and will charge you expensive to do so!
